Measure the sunlight reaching the point you actually want to evaluate.
AH-SOL · Solar Irradiance Meter

Measure solar irradiance in W/m² at the point that matters.

AH-SOL is a handheld solar irradiance meter for PV installation checks, field comparisons, research and environmental monitoring. Take a direct W/m² reading, freeze it with Data Hold, and store up to 99 measurements for later comparison.

Know what the number means

AH-SOL measures incident solar irradiance — not the electrical wattage of a solar panel.

This distinction matters. The meter tells you how much solar radiation reaches the measurement point in W/m², which is useful when you want to compare sunlight conditions, positions, modules or site conditions.

Use AH-SOL when you want to know:

  • How much solar irradiance reaches this location?
  • How does irradiance change between positions or times?
  • Is one area more shaded or exposed than another?
  • What irradiance is present during a PV site check or field test?

Do not confuse irradiance with panel output.

AH-SOL reads solar irradiance in W/m². It does not directly measure a PV module’s electrical watts, voltage, current or energy production. Those require electrical test instruments.

Simple field workflow

Measure, hold, store, compare.

Keep measurement position and sensor orientation consistent whenever you compare readings.

1

Position the meter

Place the sensor at the location and orientation you want to evaluate, then read solar irradiance directly in W/m².

2

Hold or store the reading

Use Data Hold when you need to freeze the displayed value. Store readings when you want to compare multiple points later.

3

Repeat under the same method

Compare locations, modules, shading conditions or measurement times using a consistent position and orientation.

Where it is useful

Built for quick solar irradiance checks in the field.

AH-SOL is most useful when you need a direct irradiance value and a repeatable way to compare conditions.

PV installation & site checks

Document irradiance present during commissioning, inspections or comparative site measurements.

Research & experiments

Record sunlight conditions when irradiance is one of the variables in an outdoor or laboratory workflow.

Environmental monitoring

Compare solar exposure across positions, times or outdoor locations using direct W/m² measurements.

Questions before buying

AH-SOL FAQ

These answers clarify what the meter measures and when it is the right tool.

What does AH-SOL measure?

AH-SOL measures solar irradiance at the sensor location and displays the result in W/m².

Does AH-SOL measure the electrical output of a solar panel?

No. It measures incident solar irradiance, not panel voltage, current, electrical watts or energy production.

Does AH-SOL require an app?

No app is required for its primary measurement workflow. Read the W/m² value directly on the meter and use Data Hold or stored readings as needed.

How many readings can AH-SOL store?

AH-SOL can store up to 99 readings for quick field comparisons and later review.

Is AH-SOL only for PV installations?

No. It can also be used in research and environmental monitoring whenever a direct solar irradiance measurement is useful.

Why can two solar irradiance readings be different?

Irradiance can change with time, clouds, shading, sensor position and orientation. Keep the measurement method consistent when comparing readings.
